Minor-league report: Davis powers Indianapolis in slugfest
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

A look at Saturday’s minor-league action within the Pirates' system ...

INDIANAPOLIS (19-21) won a slugfest over Toledo, 16-10. The teams combined for 31 hits, 18 coming from the Indians.

Henry Davis hit two home runs -- a solo shot in the sixth and a three-run shot in the eighth.

Matt Gorski finished a single shy of the cycle. He went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, home run, a walk drawn, five RBIs and three runs scored.

Gorski's three-run home run in the eighth was measured at 478 feet, which is the longest home run by an Indianapolis player since Statcast started tracking in 2022 and is the longest hit within the International League this season.

Ji-Hwan Bae homered to lead off the game. He added a double as part of his 4-for-6 day.

ALTOONA (9-29) was blanked at Akron, 4-0. The RubberDucks scored all four runs in the seventh inning off of Anthony Solometo. He surrendered two home runs and an RBI single. Milan Tolentino hit a two-run homer with two outs in the inning to give Akron the 4-0 cushion.

The Curve were limited to three hits. They struck out 12 times, walked twice, and went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. The Curve rank last in the Eastern League in runs scored.

GREENSBORO (22-16) lost both ends of a double header of seven-inning games at Hickory, 3-0 in Game 1 and 7-5 in Game 2.

In Game 1, Hickory scored all three runs off of Greensboro starter Hunter Barco. Two runs were scored in the first inning. Hudson Head single in the fourth was Greensboro's only hit.

In Game 2, Luke Brown hit a two-run homer to tie the game in the third, but Hickory scored four runs in the fourth to pull back ahead. Charles McAdoo hit a triple to clear loaded bases in the seventh, but Greensboro's comeback effort fell short otherwise.

BRADENTON (17-21) lost in 10 innings at Tampa, 10-9. Roderick Arias' sacrifice fly brought home the winning run off of Magdiel Cotto in the 10th.

Keiner Delgado stole third base and scored on a throwing error and Axiel Plaz hit a two-run homer for Bradenton in the first, but Tampa came right back to score three in the bottom of the first off of Marauders starter Khristian Curtis. Trailing 9-4 into the eighth, Bradenton scored five runs and tied it on Solomon Maguire's RBI groundout. Braylon Bishop hit a two-run triple in the inning.
