Report: Chelsea, Arsenal women set for U.S. visit
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The women's teams at England's Chelsea and Arsenal are set to play games in the United States this summer, ESPN reported, with each matching up against an NWSL club.

Chelsea, the Women's Super League champion, will face Arsenal in a friendly at Washington D.C. on Aug. 19. Arsenal also will face the host Washington Spirit in August, while Chelsea will take on NJ/NY Gotham at Harrison, N.J.

It will be the first time WSL and NWSL teams have played against each other.

Chelsea went 18-3-1 this past season to win the WSL title, while Arsenal (16-4-2) finished third.

Heading into NWSL play Sunday, the Spirit (7-3-0, 21 points) was in second place, while Gotham (3-2-3, 12 points) was in seventh place. Gotham is the defending NWSL champion.
